Piero Fornasetti

Piero Fornasetti was born in Italy in 1913 and attended the Brera Academy in Milan, but was expelled from the school after two years. He worked as a painter and took part in various exhibitions, including the Triennale Milano. He spent the years from 1943 to 1946 in exile in Switzerland. During his lifetime, Fornasetti created several thousand works of art. His trademark was a woman’s face, and he used it, for example, on a series of gold-rimmed plates which have become coveted objects.
